What is the Provincial Travel Fund for, and why do I have to pay it?

All teams that enter Provincial categories that lead to Post-Provincial play are required to pay the Travel Fund.

  1. Qualifying teams who will be attending the Western Canadian or Canadian Championships may be eligible for travel assistance.

This travel assistance will be determined annually based on the travel fund collected in the qualifying category.

a) Where a category has less than three teams, the 1st qualifying team receives 100% of the travel assistance.
b) Where a category has three or more teams, the:

      • 1st qualifying team receives 70% of the travel assistance
      • 2nd qualifying team receives the remaining 30% of the travel assistance
  1. If the qualifying team is either hosting or attending the Western Canadian or Canadian Championship in their own city/town and is deemed as the Provincial Champion then the travel assistance will be awarded to the next qualifying team that requires travel and accommodations to the Championship event. If all Alberta teams are from the host city/town, then the Provincial Champion will be awarded the travel assistance.

Do we have to pay it even if we don’t want to go? Yes. All teams in categories leading to Post-Provincial play are required to pay the Travel Fee.
